Bexbach, GERMANY – March 30, 2020 – As the Novel Coronavirus outbreak spreads across the world, KD Pharma Bexbach GmbH is dedicating part of its Omega-3 production assets to produce hand sanitizer to help the German community. KD Pharma just finished the production of its first commercial batch of disinfectant and has donated it to the University of Homburg. The company has also commenced plans to distribute the product to other organizations in Germany.
“We are a large user of ethanol for our existing products and have decided to free up capacity on our reactors to support the German community to get through the crisis” said Markus Altermatt, KD Pharma’s VP Manufacturing. “We can offer 500ml to 1L bottles or bulk using the World Health Organization formula for sanitizer,” he concluded.
KD Pharma Bexbach GmbH has been a part of the Saarland community for more than thirty years, employing more than 150 people in Bexbach and Homburg. Local authorities embraced the initiative and have encouraged the company to work with local hospitals and other organizations with acute needs.
